The European Commission announced this Monday that Spain and Lithuania have already connected to the European platform that will allow border agents at airports to verify that passengers traveling through the Schengen territory are vaccinated or immunized against COVID-19 and Therefore, they do not have to quarantine or undergo any restrictions. In a tweet, the community body welcomed the two countries, which join the seven that have already been connected since June 1: Germany, Bulgaria, Greece, Croatia, Poland, Denmark and the Czech Republic.

The European platform is hosted in the Commission's own data centers, in Luxembourg, and is a technological development designed by two multinationals, T-System and SAP. Neither the digital COVID certificates nor the health data of European citizens will travel through this platform : only the electronic signatures that will allow border controls to Indonesia Phone Number List verify that these are authentic. The integration of the certificates issued by the different European countries into this platform is essential so that as of July 1, travel can resume without restrictions throughout the European territory. Each country is responsible for developing its own certificate , always taking into account the political agreement reached in the European Parliament on May 20. Under this political agreement, these digital certificates must be free, not mandatory, and will not be limited to determining whether a passenger is vaccinated against COVID-19: users will be able to include the results of a negative PCR test in their certificates.

or having generated antibodies against the disease by having suffered from it. This political agreement also opens the door for member states to use this digital certificate for other national purposes, something that is being carried out in Denmark. The Danish Government designed a COVID proto-passport that allowed its citizens to return to football stadiums, bars or gyms. France is another example. Starting this Wednesday, the neighboring country will be able to use an immunity certificate so that its citizens can return to massive events of more than a thousand people, such as concerts or festivals. It is possible because the Senate approved the relevant legislation. In Spain this debate has not been held for the moment.
