That deserve to deepen their relationship with the patient, with medicine, with the human being. For designers, the debate is unfortunately still based too much on the following question: "should design be ethical or not? Besides, in what way is ethics a question? How is ethics in design (or in technology) even questionable? Can you imagine any other industry or any other profession questioning ethics? Can you imagine doctors debating whether ethics matters In fact, they do.
They debate ethics every day but they go well beyond questioning its importance, they address ethics on specific, fundamental issues. And honestly, that's where we should be since we're now writing software for self-driving image manipulation service cars and smart sex toys.. Can you imagine a doctor not telling you about a dark spot he saw on your x-ray because he didn't want to upset you? Can you imagine an auto mechanic not telling you your brakes are worn out because they didn't want to deal with the problem or take a few extra bucks from you? These two situations are contrary to the ethics of the profession.

When other industries behave unethically, we are shocked. Yet many of us don't seem to have a problem behaving unethically. We design databases to collect information, without thinking for a second about the reason for using this information. We are a community but have we sunk to such a low level that our conversations about ethics are those usually reserved for politicians, bankers, money managers, pimps or bookmakers? If you want to do “good” work, and I really hope you do, start doing it on your daily job. Start asking yourself questions about what you are building.
