Away by nationalist winds and loses internal support in the PP by Javier de Benito The president of Galicia, Alberto Núñez Feijoo , has been carried away by the nationalist winds that run through his autonomous community. There are some autonomies that have a very marked identity. Catalonia, the Basque Country and of course Galicia are some of them. The problem for Feijoo is that in a context in which he remains crouched to assault the presidency of the PP as soon as Pablo Casado slacks off , he has let himself be carried away by his nationalist sentiment rather than by his political ambition . Now, inexplicably, Alberto Núñez Feijoo has given in to a BNG proposal in which they intend to expel the Civil Traffic Guard from Galicia and leave those powers to a "Galician police." Feijoo has not explicitly supported him, but his abstention.

Has not been liked at all in the PP. At the moment it is not a fact and Feijoo has time to stop it, but the truth is that his feathers have been seen. Just as Catalonia has the Mossos D'Esquadra and the Basque Country has the Ertzaintza, Galicia wants its own armed force starting with those who con Spain Phone Number List trol the roads. The parliamentary triumph, since the measure has already been admitted for processing, of this project that was born at the proposal of the BNG has the complicity of Feijoo and in his party it has not gone unnoticed. From Madrid , the PP does not take its eyes off the president of Galicia and is already questioning in Genoa whether a candidate who likes to flirt with regional patriotic sentiment is the right one to replace Casado at the head of the Popular Party. It was not a good move even though.

I did not explicitly support it. It is not the first time that the Galicians seek to have their police. It is a symbol for any autonomy that flirts with peripheral nationalisms. In 2008, the Galician Parliament unanimously approved this demand. However, Congress overthrew it in 2012 with the vote against the PSOE. The PP, curiously, abstained from said vote (but in this case the complicity was the other way around, since if it had supported it it would have gone ahead) and Galicia had to leave the implementation of a Galician police force for another time. by Taboola Sponsored links you may like Unsold Prefabricated Cabins With Toilet And Bath Cost Almost Nothing! (Take A Look!) Unsold Prefabricate Returning to what concerns us, the change of captain in the PP made it clear what the PP's position was. Neither Pablo Casado nor Teodoro García Egea, the general secretary, agree with removing the powers of the Civil Guard in Galicia.
