1.1 General questions
What is the National Do Not Call List?
The National Do Not Call List (DNCL) is a list of phone numbers of consumers who want to reduce the number of telemarketing calls they receive. Organizations making telemarketing calls are prohibited from calling phone numbers registered with the National DNCL.
Who administers the National Do Not Call List?
The National Do Not Call List is administered by the Canadian Radio-television and Telecommunications Commission (CRTC). The National Do Not Call List is operated by Bell Canada.
What calls are subject to the National Do Not Call List?
The law applies to telemarketing calls that are intended to promote the purchase, lease, or rental of goods or services.
Exceptions to the rule
Exceptions include telemarketing calls made by or on behalf of the following organizations:
Canadian Registered Charities
Political parties, constituency associations or candidates
General distribution newspapers for the purpose of attracting subscribers
Telemarketing calls to people with whom there is an Cambodia Phone Number List existing business relationship are also exempt from the rules. Telemarketers may call a consumer who:
Purchased, leased, or rented a product or service from a telemarketer within the last 18 months; and/or
Has a written contract with the telemarketer for the service that is still in effect or has expired within the last 18 months; and/or
Made an inquiry or request for a product or service to a telemarketer within the last 6 months.
Telemarketers may also place calls to consumers if the consumer has provided express consent to receive the calls. Express consent includes:

The consumer's written, electronic or online permission to make the calls; or
An audio recording of the consumer's verbal consent or a recording of consent certified by an independent third party.
The National DNCL Rules do not apply to telemarketing calls to commercial organisations.
Calls from organizations conducting market research, surveys, and public opinion polls are also exempt from the National Do Not Call List rules, as these calls are not intended to solicit the purchase, lease, or rental of goods or services. Research companies are not required to maintain internal stop lists.
2.2. Questions for consumers
What phone numbers can I register with the National DNCL?
You can register any or all Canadian phone numbers with the National DNCL. You can register a home phone number, a mobile phone number, a VOIP number, or a fax number.
